Chip Tuning Box for Mazda MX-5 ND2

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __ND2 RF
  2. I’m based near: __EDINBURGH
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __I am looking into fitting a Chip Tuning Box to my ND RF however looking at the fitting instructions is appears to connect to the sensor that is on the firewall (dashboard) side of the engine and isn’t accessible from above. I wonder if anyone has fitted this to the engine and know if there is another way of accessing the sensor or if the sensor is accessible from underneath the car.

You’d be better off remapping the ECU!

Versatune was my solution for a little more oomph.

I’d also suggest a proper ECU remap.

Because of how a tuning box works, by altering sensor signals I wouldn’t expect much, if any, improvement on the ND2. Especially in mid-range torque improvement, which is what you’d notice most.

Here’s someone who can explain why, far better than I can…

I have used tuning boxes in the past. Both were on Diesel BMW’s.

Both times I ended up taking the tuning box off because it either did not deliver any real improvement, or lead to CEL and limp mode.

I would not recommend.

The box’s I used both came from TDUK, which is a reputable brand in that world.
