Hi
I want to get rid of some stone chips and a small superficial scratch on the front of my MK 2. Has anyone used this revolutionary
CHIPEX TOUCH UP PAINT if so is it as good as they say.

I found with the kit they supplied, that the solvent bottle runs out well before the paint does, so you can’t use that much of the paint.
It’s just paint at the end of the day, although I never seemed to get the technique quite right myself.
You can get a touch up stick from Mazda of course.
Tried it out on the company car and had mixed results on a reasonably bad scrape on my A-class merc
Dont rely on a reversing cameras!
Like Zpat I can’t seem to be able to get the technique quite right.
However my scratch’s were quite deep. Might work well on smaller stone chips.
Biggest disappointment was the poor colour match.
The process does allow you to fill a deep scratch with paint without getting any residue on the surrounding paintwork.
I went bought a touch up stick from mazda for the MX
After watching those chipex videos, i tried the same technique using a normal touchup stick and acetone.
Whilst the acetone did infact have the desired effect, i too couldn’t quite get the technique quite right.
Yep, mixed results for me too. On very small chips it worked perfectly but the larger, deeper chips were more problematic. I probably didn’t apply enough paint or let it dry sufficiently etc before using the blending solution. I was also using it on metallic paint which is more difficult to blend in, in my experience anyway. My guess is on dark colours it would work quite well.
Thanks for all your feedback guys I think I will save myself some money and buy a touch up stick from Mazda.
