Churchill Insurance

I was involved in a car accident 4 months ago,not my fault I hasten to add. I did everything by the book, ie reported the accident to the police and informed my insurance company.4 months down the line and eight yes eight phone calls to Churchill later, nothing not even an aknowledgement letter about the accident, just a demand for double the amout of money to renew the policy.

I have today rang them for the ninth time and asked to speak to a supervisor only to be told by a very abrupt young woman there are no supervisors, she also refused to give me her name. Before you consider this bunch of cowboys to look after your insurance needs, remember my experience and give them a wide berth. The following sums them up!!!

There are always supervisors/managers. Apart from anything else it is a requirement of FSA compliance.

Most firms hate being taken to the ombudsman because they have to pay for each case (win or lose). You don’t have to pay.

Put your complaint in writing, and cc the compliance officer. Advise them that you will refer to ombudsman if aggreement not reached in a given time. Also you could write to the ABI and to some newspapers financial editors - when they ring up things suddenly happen.

That would explain why my daughters insurance company were so quick to act!!

Definately tell them you’ll refer them to the ombudsman, she told them (by phone), in 2 days they started to sort the mess they’d created, all done because she’d done what she thought was right, telling them of a no fault accident that she wasn’t making a claim on. Needless to say she’s swapped companies!!

Thanks for the good advice guys,my wife is now on the case,we will let you know how we get on.

Yeah, “Line managers” are mandatory, although compliance has changed - complaints don’t need to be in writing anymore.

Still a good idea though, if only to keep records.

I was with churchil since I started driving but they started to get on my nerves more and more.

I was always under the impression window screen cover was separate from normal claims but either the person I was speaking to on the phone hadn’t a clue or it does, which is a bit pointless to be honest.

The last time I spoke to Direct Line (Churchill) they were so arrogant with me I told them where to stick there policy. Never again Angry

Apart from anything else that f*****g dog on the advert annoys me so much I’d never take out a policy with them.

ooooo yes

Having been an employee of the RBS Group for many years and having left it nearly 12 months ago, nothing that goes on within that group surprises me anymore. Needless to say I have moved everything away from RBS, nevermore to return.

Norw norw norw!

We were with Direct Line for years and years.  Had good service after an accident once too, (not my fault, got hit from behind by a driver who had fell asleep at the wheelShock).  Then they went to pot.  About 3 or 4 years or so ago, my policy prices doubled!  I rang around and got even cheaper that what I had paid them for the previous year.

We are now currently with Admiral.  No complaints so far, though apart from a chipped windscreen, we have’nt had to use them.  very competetive prices, though they dont like too many modifications.

Not had any problems with Churchill had an accident last year (idiot that carved me up on a roundabout decided to stop dead cos I blew the horn at him just didn’t quite stop in time) explained all it was dealt with quickly but lost a years NCBThinking)

But with Admiral it is worth checking Diamond same company sometimes wildly different prices, for the last 3 years I have been swapping my two daughters insurance between the two! I tell them and when they offer to match I say no should’ve have done that in the first place! Daughters are 18 (saxo) 21 (new Twingo) eldests renewal was £410 with Admiral , Diamond £285 ! and can usually drop youngests around £50 (currently £700!)

they are all a con just a case of finding the one that suits you !

you’re not wrong there !
