Clamping stainless steel brakes hoses

  1. My model of MX-5 is: Eunos 1.8 1995
  2. I’m based near: Hull
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Brake line clamping

I hope this isn’t a daft question!

I’m about to replace a front brake caliper. I have Hel stainless steel brake hoses fitted. I guess a hydraulic brake hose clamp wouldn’t function on these? If it doesn’t any tips for not losing all the brake fluid?

Thanks in advance.

Take off the filler cap on the master cylinder and seal it with cling film. If the air can’t get in the fluid will not come out.
Do not clamp the hoses.

Thank you!

Makes sense.

Wedging the brake pedal in the fully depressed (ie fully down to the floor) position will stop and flow.

Thank you. I will.

Surely that would initially pressurise the system meaning it would spray everywhere as caliper is disconnected?

Or maybe not?

You wouldn’t get the pedal to the floor if it was pressurised!!

So you release the pressure by cracking open one of the caliper bleed valves. Press the brake pedal slowly and then wedge in the fully down position.
