When fitting Renault Clio wheels do you need different wheel nuts?
If so what kind do I need?
cheers
Depends on what wheel nuts you have now and what kind of nuts the Reanult wheel is using. If both wheels are OE alloys then the nut seats should be the same diameter and cone angle, so you should be fine. I’ve found some manufacturers use different cone angles for steel wheels, so watch out for that (because the wheels fall off if you use the wrong cone angle).
If you’re current wheels use “tuner nuts” and the clio wheels use normal nuts it might be a good idea to buy some normal wheel nuts (wheels not designed for tuner nuts may not be strong enough at the nut seat to avoid yeild under preload, so the wheels fall off).
If you have any doubts the safest thing to do would be to pop down to your local wheel shop and ask them to sell you a set of the right nuts - normally about a quid each. Just take one of the renault wheels with you.
I’m assuming here tat the Clio centre bore is the same or bigger than the MX5, otherwise they won’t go on.
I’ve currently got BMW wheels on my 5, and I have had sets of Honda, Toyota and Lotus wheels fitted to it (only the Lotus ones needed special nuts, so I made them).
Thanks captain
I was under the impression that all Clio wheels fitted centre bore wise?
The wheels I’m looking at are 60.1mm
I think they do too, I just didn’t have my wheel database handy. Hang on…
… yep, should be fine.
thanks again captain
