Clock setting?

Hi all, is it me, my car, my age or just the lockdown getting to me!!!
Today, I’ve been running up the engine in anticipation to gaining our freedom again and whilst sat in the lovely warmth of the heated seat, I decided to check the instrument consule display and lights were all working okay. Then I thought we’res the clock displayed?? I might add, have had this car since last September and been doing the brakes and generally tinkering over the winter, so this is really the first time I’ve been really looking at the dashboard in more detail. The model I have is a 14 plate mk 3.75 so it has the larger display with integrated sat nav. Ahah there’s the time, displayed in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, so, how would you change it, if the battery was disconnected for instance??? I’ve trawled through all the settings and can I h#ll as like find it. I presume its all done via the satnav gps, can anyone out there confirm or give me a clue, pleeez.

From memory I found it via the sat nav map screen.

I’ve got an NC3.5 Venture Edition with integrated Sat Nav and the time sets itself after a few miles after it’s been layed up for a while. If you are impatient you can set it yourself through the Sat Nav menu. I took it out of the garage for an essential journey (spin) this afternoon and the time was showing ::/::. Without me doing anything it was soon showing the accurate time.

Ahhh right, thanks for the info, thought that might be the answer. Didn’t think it could be through the radio because its FM and not DAB, although I’m not really tech minded. Will have to look at the SatNav in more detail. Thanks again

If the FM had RDS, then that carries the time signal, and it’s actually fractionally more accurate than DAB because of less delay through the processing.
But not all radios implemented it because they were not necessarily connected to the car’s clock system.
eg the clock did its auto-reset twice a year on my old 1996 Vextra, but not on my earlier 1994 Astra, both with RDS.

Classic FM is broadcast a few seconds (either 3 or 4 thereabouts) late so that it is in sync with the DAB broadcast!

If it’s getting a time "pulse " through the radio,
how would the clock show the right time when I’ve had the battery disconnected from the car for a month. When connecting it again, over the weekend, the correct time display is now showing again in the bottom right of the screen. The aerial for the radio has been removed and the car is in a garage since getting the it last September, that’s what makes me think its getting the time signal through the GPS of the Satnav automatically.:thinking::thinking::thinking:

Satnav relies on highly accurate time, as you were seeing in the first post, much more so than over any radio. So you cannot “change” it, merely offset it for daylight saving or time-zones, and that should be either automatic or buried somewhere in the satnav menus (speaking generally as I don’t have the details for your satnav).

I think the thread drifted into DAB vs FM time. Sorry for helping the drift.

It’s no problem, just couldn’t figure out how it kept the time, that’s why I started investigating the settings and couldn’t find anything that gave me the option on how to adjust the time “IF” I ever get to take the car abroad :rofl::joy::rofl:
As for the model of Satnav, am not sure, its the standard large screen for the later mk3, I presume.

I believe it is set somewhere deep in the menus, took me ages to sort it out in my mum’s NC for her to then replace the whole system anyway!
I was able to find a manual for it at the time but sadly can’t remember where.

If so, then it will be an AVN2. It’s actually an Alpine INE-W920R, which has been “customised”/emasculated by Mazda. You can flash the unit with the Alpine firmware (which is available on their web site), which gives you some increased functionality.

Now that’s interesting, thank you for that info, will have a look at Alpines website, although I don’t like “messing” with things, am a big believer if its working leave well alone :upside_down_face:, but might have a look at their manual though, might give me more info :+1:
