Hi all,
Regarding a 2007 Roadster Sport
It’s my wife’s car… but I did test drive if it at the time of purchase a few months ago and noted that the biting point of the clutch is very low and that unless the clutch is pushed in firmly gear changes are notchy.
Fast forward to the weekend just past… I received a call from my wife who had pulled the car over en-route home. She said that she was having trouble getting the car in and out of gear and that there was an awful smell.
She managed to get it home, so out I went to inspect. Sure enough I could smell burning clutch. I jumped in and immediately noted that the floor matt had worked its way forward and wasn’t enabling the clutch peddle to fully depress. So I pulled the matt out and went out for a drive… I noted the biting point still being very low but it was at least going in and out of gear ok and that there was no clutch slip.
So my question is to those in the know…do all MX5’s have a very low clutch biting point, if not is this a common problem and is it an easy fix, is the clutch adjustable?
Thabks in advance,
Mike.
