CLUTCH PEDAL SWITCH

Can some one please tell me why the clutch pedal has a switch and what doe’s it do      MK1 MANUAL  Eunos

It’s so the engine ECU knows if drive is engaged or not so it can adjust fuel and ignition timing accordingly. There is a neutral switch too, the ECU needs to see a gear selected (ie not in neutral) and the clutch pedal released.

What happens if the pedal switch is faulty can you tell? will it make the gear change rough ? and whereis the netural switch.
Thanks for the explanation

I think that a faulty clutch switch usually leads to poor idle or stalling. The neutral switch is on the gearbox.

Thanks Robbie , that seems to be my problem ,the reves drop on idle too low ,you were a great help thanks for your time and help

Have you checked your base idle too?

I set my ignition timing to 14 degrees before TDC ( set the idle to approx 850 revs with aircon and fan off before checking the timing with a gun.) This all went fine I then set my clutch pedal to correct disegauged position and free play before engaugement , before resetting my clutch pedal the switch could be heard clicking on as I pressed the pedal with my hand for some reason the switch no longer clicks when I depress the pedal and the revs now drop when the car is at idle to allmost a stall
