So i have just bought myself my very first MX5
that im chuffed to bits with, EXCEPT, for one tiny detail.
the car came fitted with a cobra alarm system which isnt a bad thing in itself, however when i lock the car with the key fob the car locks fine with no problem and the hazards flash but after a second or two the car will let out a loud beep for what seems like an hour but is closer to about 30 seconds or so. it isnt the alarm going off i think it is just supposed to tell you and everyone else that youve armed the system but i was wondering if any of you guys have any experience with cobra alarms and know if there is any way of making it stop or making it beep for not as long?
thanks in advance!
Try searching Cobra Car Tech’s Blog on their website. They have answers to various problems. You Tube have a number of Cobra videos also.
Good luck!
Good thinking I’ll have a look there, thanks
Mine does that if I set the alarm but there’s still an open circuit on either the bonnet or boot switches - ie not quite closed properly. If you’re sure that everything is shut tight, could be a dodgy activator switch?
Yeah I will have to check the boot/bonnet switch make sure that they are working properly, thanks for the advice
The bonnet switch is held in place with two screws, if one of the eyelets that hold the screws ics cracked, the plunger switch will move about.
Regards
Hopefully it’s something simple like that, will post back when I get a chance to check it out
So got a chance to have a look at this today and happy to say it’s sorted![]()
where the boot switch was mounted, the bit that pushed the switch in when the boot was closed was just a bit of trim/carpet and over the years must of got a bit weak so I made a little bracket to reinforce the carpet, so the switch gets activated properly and now no beep!
Thanks all for your help
