I’m replacing the coil pack on my 1994 1.8 Roadster as it has a slight misfire under load. On the coil pack there is a blue spot and a white spot on each half of the pack by the multiplug connection. The wiring loom to the plug has some blue tape on one and nothing on the other plug. When i removed it from the car the wiring connector with the blue tape on was connected to the side of the coil with the white spot and the plug with nothing on was connected to thehalf of thecoil with the blue spot. Am i right in assumiing that the plug with the blue tape on should go to the blue spot on the coil and that it was connected incorrectly before? Would it run if it was connected the wrong way? Does it make any difference?
Looking at the cct diag which you can see here

the coil packs look to be completely interchangeable
Thank you very much Sir. That’s answered my question. It was connected correctly, obviously just a random bit of tape on the loom. And it’s cleared the misfire! [:D]
Great result
