Colour ideas please

Hi all, i am looking to do my cam cover over the winter while shes laid up , the car is a splash green mk2.5 , anyone got any ideas about colour, my first thought was yellow but i thought too light for showing finger prints ect, and i dont want black , any help would be great, and pictures, thanks

Splash Green?

i thought that but there is a lot of the original paint still showing in the engine bay so thought it might be too much, thanks though

Polish it? And detail the text in Splash?

thats an option Grumpy, looks good, but will have to then do the intake and other items , but its worth thinking about

My first thought too, was splash green? However, you’re probably right that there’s enough of it in the engine bay already! On my mk1, all done by me but subsequent owner fitted some of the parts, was a polished intake plenum, cam cover and supercharger outlet! Looked very bling  got it all done by a local metal finishers. However, I really like the crinkle finish in red with the lettering in silver? The Matt finish to the red and the letters picked out looks very sporty IMO.

If you didn’t want to polish the cover get it powdercoated silver, that’s what I did.

Or if a bit light how about gunmetal?

Doing the lettering in the same colour of the car sounds a good idea, think that’d look great.

thats a nice engine bay , the cam cover looks spot on but like you said a bit bright, but i like the idea of gun metal with splash green lettering ,

i also like the crinkle paint Finnish , and i know red has been done so many times but it still looks good,

My MX5 is also Splash Green and although the cam cover is stock I think gunmetal grey would be a good choice of colour.

Yer ATR, thats a good idea but do you think a bit lighter than gunmetal , maybe between gunmetal and silver ?

Gunmetal grey would be nice

‘Natural’  with a bit of polish !! Smile

that does look very nice Boxerdog
