Completed - NEM - 5 July 2009 JAPS car show @ Thoresby

Hiya Everyone,

Another good date for the N.E.M. diary here: Sunday 5th July, 'JAPS' car show at Thoresby Park, near Ollerton - North Notts.

A copy of a 'flyer' giving event details is attached below, and see this link for a booking form for advanced reduced price admission to the event: http://www.classicshows.org/BookingF...orm%202009.doc

This event will be in lieu of the N.E.M. monthly Sunday drive for July, as this event happens to be on the first Sunday of the month - but the JAPS event has got a lot going for it instead of the July drive for a number of reasons - read on!

From a Japanese car show point of view, it is a premier event on a scale of car shows, it is always very well organised by Andrew Greenwood and his team - who specialise in organising Classic Car & Motorbike events & exhibitions, and also Japanese Car events like 'JAPS'.

There will be showring activity all day - loads of show & shine car competitions, lots of commentary and interviews from the showring - and if its like the last time I went a few years ago - some really spectacular 'to die for!' customised and also concourse Japanese Cars on show - a really excellent days entertainment from just the event itself!

From an MX5OC point of view - there will be a club stand and club logo exhibition marquee on site all day, and I expect that we will have room for around 20 cars on it (final number TBC via event organisers - watch this thread).

For our stand visitors (members / cars) I suggest bringing a picnic with you - then 'putting your feet up' on our stand - catching up and having a nice meeting with everyone gathered, and generally enjoy the atmosphere of the show.

We will also have a 'Celebrity Guest' present on the stand all day too - that would namely be the MX5OC 'Raffle Car' - that I have booked in to be with us for the JAPS show!

For anyone not enlightened on this 'Raffle Car' car - it is specifically a 1997 MK1 1.8iS in bright Red paintwork, which currently belongs to the MX5OC (purchased specifically for purpose around 2 months ago), and it is being raffled off throughout the summer to raise money for the adopted charity of 'Help 4 Heroes' - this registered charity benefits injured members of our armed forces as they come back into society - a really tremendous and worthy cause.

This car is scheduled to visit every (mainland!) area / region of the MX5OC on its way to Mallory Park in September - and this JAPS event will be the N.E.M.'s chance to own it for the weekend (watch this forum for other potential movements of this car i.e. possibly something on Saturday 4th).

So we will all be able to enjoy and have a good look over this lovely MK1 MX-5 throughout the day, and if you wish to purchase a number of £1 raffle tickets - the tickets will be available with the car on the day, you will then be absolutely 'in it to win it!' when the actual draw will be made on the afternoon of this years National Rally '15/20' anniversary event at Mallory Park racing circuit on Saturday 12th September.

Over and above all of the really good stuff on offer throughout the day as mentioned above - 'JAPS' also will also attract a really good selection of traders - who will I am sure have some good and tempting car accessories available for all.

So I am certainly really looking forward to this event being held right on our N.E.M. doorstep - and also looking forward to a good get together with everyone on the club stand.

Please give us a bit of a 'heads up' by posting back on here if you will be coming - as to make sure that we don't overflow our space allocation on the stand all at one time (there will be plenty of public parking anyway, which will only be 5 mins walk away from our stand if the worst comes to the worst - and we do get full!).

Thanks & see you soon,

Dave Kiely
