Confused about MAF types

My car is a MK2.5 1.8 VVT 2002 and I think I have a MAF issue, after reading a post about misfires at low revs I am beginning to think my MAF could be faulty.

With this in mind I hit Google to search for a FS1E MAF as I think this is the correct type for my car.

The issue I have is that I am finding many new MAF’s for sale across the web which state FS1E & FP39 in a single description but I am lead to believe they are not cross compatible… This has become very confusing for a simpleton like myself.

I think its worth mentioning my current MAF is an aftermarket one that came with the car and it doesn’t tell me what type it is. (No silver sticker on the side)

Help as I’ve no idea if this part is correct or not for my car…

(eBay example below although Google will throw up plenty of non eBay examples claiming the same FS1E & FP39 part)

Now I’m even more confused as what to buy…

The above link is for the VVT engine, however when I read further down the add it states it compatible with non VVt engines too… It doesn’t state anything about FS1E or FP39 but the model years suggest its both… …

Either these MAF’s are configured to run on either engine or there’s a £100 premium I can’t understand.

Help please as i need to make the correct purchase for my car, it could be a lot of money if I get it wrong

Don’t be confused - the FS1E is for the MK2.5, all flavours with OBD.

The FP39 is for MK2, non OBD only

Oh forgot to say that they are not compatible.
