Crusie control?

Is is possible to have cruise control fitted to my 2006 2 litre mk3?  Have maybe found the answer to this.  Company called Car Fi in Derby offer the service - electronic version with crusie control and speed limiter - fitted for £594 (includes the dreaded VAT)  Fitting time about three and a half hours.  Will travel out to my home (Ruislip) to do the work.  Anyone any experience of this, or other suggestions.  Thanks

Now that’s a question I would be interested to see what the reply is.  Had this option on my last 2 cars and is a valuable tool on long runs.

I would have thought so… There are plenty of after-market kits around…

So, popped over to our frined - Google.

Indeed lots around.

One example -

For an approximate installed price from £549.99 (depending on the vehicle), you get a product which from many dealerships can only be factory ordered, if it is even offered at all. This is for professional fit only and we would not recommend DIY fitting.

and another one - this one is for a MX5

Prices from £328 - £375 + £185 fitting

Think this was an option on the USA MK3 cars, and is an option on the 3.5 over here with Steering wheel controls.

Do any of the uk after market fitters offer s/w controls or are they all operated by a separate switch?Think if you search on here you’ll find that someone had a system fitted a couple of years ago but with separate switch.

Read a thread on the Miata Forum about retro fitting the US version which said some MK3 models  already had the wiring in place so only necessary to purchase the Brake Switch No GJ6E-66-490 or W2A-C28-04C (German version?)and S/W switch No NE51-66-4M0C,but when I asked a local dealer if these were available, only one(sorry can’t remember which one)was.Whichever it was was also available from MX5 Parts.Have’nt had time to investigate further, but you’d think both would be available as spares for the 3.5?

Certainly be interested in fitting to our MK3 if operated by S/W controls as per 3.5.

Interesting debate here.

I dont know if it is possible to retrofit cruise control on a MX5 but as some of the posts have indicated if it is it will be expensive.

My day car is a focus titanium which has all these gismos.  Although I have had it for 2 years now I very seldom use the cruise control as to me it just gives mind numbing driving and I am not sure that it is that good for economy.  When driving manually I can adopt my speed dependant upon conditions ahead to give a much more flowing drive wheras the cruise control is either power or not.  Difficult to describe but unless its me others might have a differnt opinion.  Or parhaps the cruise control mfitted to the focus is cheap and nasty!

When I get in the 5 I just want to drive, even on long runs it still gives me a buzz, putting a bit of power on, sometimes pushing a bit, sometimes just ambling along.

I wouldnt pay extra to retrofit cruise control but I guess its an individual thing.

It will be interesting to know if it can be done.

£35 for a replacement switch & £10 in beer tokens to activate it on my Astra Twintop

(Luckily i don`t feel the need on my MK1)

I have founda company “Car Fi” in Derby - same price.  Is this the company you are talking about? Thanks
