Ctek chargers

on my previous car a jaguar XE i could connect my Ctek charger using a cigar type connection in the boot, is there a similar way of connection in the MX5

  1. My model of MX-5 is: RF
  2. I’m based near: __
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: battery charging

You’d need an accessory socket that remained live with the ignition off. As far as I know there isn’t one.

Nothing to stop you fitting one, perhaps on a flying lead, and piggybacking a suitable fuse.

Alternatively just fit the CTEK connector to the battery terminals.

The simple answer is ‘no’, the socket in the passenger footwell is not live when the ignition is off.
I have a permanently attached plug socket under the bonnet that I can hide behind the headlamp when not in use.

On our RF I have used the kit to connect directly to the battery. Allows fairly easy connection/disconnection. Not quite as professional as having the connector built into the front grill.

As do I

Exactly how I did it.The connecting cable comes out of the front under the bonnet and is placed so it is not crushed when bonnet is closed
