Part of this program was shot at Curborough, a sprint track just off the A38 near Burton on Trent.
The owners club has used this sprint circuit in the past, and I hope it will be considered by Peter McNicol in 2016
Who would be up for it?

Clive Southern and I both offered to support this event this year, but we were told that Blyton took all the time to organise, and the event died another death. It needs to be booked no later than November, or the day is lost - Curboro’ is a popular track with other Clubs, and the early bird get’s the worm.
So far no-one seems interested, though time will tell? At Clive’s suggestion - I built timing gear specifically for Curboro’ - then The Committee banned it, so while the offer still stands, they have to be convinced it’s a benefit to participants, though to satisfy MSA rules, Curboro Clerk of the course insists we do not publish or advertise the fact we timed it.
Interestingly - Curboro’ now has a figure of 8 circuit, if we wished to use it.The old circuit is still there, it’s an option either way.
I’d definitely be up for a MX5OC day at Curborough; it’s a great little circuit not too far from here.
I’ve done it a few times before as an imposter with the Lotus Driver’s Club. They run it as an ‘introduction to sprinting’ day, i.e. with no official timing, which I think makes things a little simpler organisation wise.

Mazda on Track, the Club’s motorsport partner offer a fully legal, ambulance, crash truck, marshals, no MSA or completion car required Sprint at Blyton. No need for secrecy or not publishing times.
It does appear to be being over looked along with all the other events we do.
Theyre bloody good fun too.

MOT has the whole Motorsport section in which to promote themselves, no need to jump on posts from long standing members in favour of an original Club event, ever heard of etiquette and maintaining good relationships? Curborough Sprint was started way before I joined the Club in 2002, and presumably due to lobbying by MOT has receded from the calendar - money talks. Partners doesn’t mean owners, there’s two explicit’s that fit the situation - the second is OFF.
Jerry, you have a PM. It contains lots of censored words.
I will however state here that if you think in anyway that MOT has lobbied to stop or discourage any OC event you are utterly wrong and in fact to polar opposite is true.
MoT was started in 2008 as a direct result of the then Motorsport coordinator being unable to get 20 cars from the OC to fill a single slot on a MG’s on Track day at Cadwell Park on a MG’s on Track day there, and yet they were able to fill the day with Triumph and Healy’s and other long out of production cars. As it currently stands, nothing has changed. I do not see any concerted attempt by the current administration to encourage a community or club spirit and build a participating Motorsport spirit for the ordinary member within the club.
Nick - apology sent (PM)
My previous post wasn’t intended for you, you have my full support - points taken and acknowledged.
Primarily the post was aimed at Rusty (whoever) who gave an impression he was part of your team, if I’m wrong, then I apologise for that too. I do object to anyone hi-jacking a thread (with or without an apology) who’s aim is to change the intent of a post to something totally different, and my comment about lobbying was also badly made, from my remote position these days I had an impression that Blyton negated everything else the Club participated in, which tends to point to lobbying. I can see from the content (and other recent PM’s sent) that your PM clearly illustrates that if it wasn’t for MOT, then the M/S calendar would be dead as a dodo.
I’ve said my piece over the years, and done my best, apparently not good enough - but hey Life goes on regardless. If the Club can’t afford to run an event then things have come to a pretty pass, but I’m just one of a few who think we are going in the wrong direction - not that I object to what you do, which is fine by me.
We (collectively) have increased membership fees due to the increasing cost of running rallies it seems, to the detriment of any other activity the Club used to do. My thoughts in that direction shall remain unsaid, but it also seems things ain’t what they used to be. So much for nostalgia, life goes on. Let’s face it - we are in a social club. (Majority rules - O/K?)
And I always though OC’s were all happiness and cuddles. Nice to see there’s just as much sh*t throwing as the rest of the forums haha!
Anyway, I’ll stay firmly in the middle of this, because I’ll probably be booking in on the MOT day at Blyton - because it looks like a great day. But I’d also recommend a day at Curborough. I’ve done sprint days there twice and both were brilliant. Also the track layout is great for MX5’s (although my 6spd gearbox isn’t much of a fan). MX5’s are surprisingly quick around there, the days I did the MX5’s were punching well above their weight. I was fighting over tenths of a second with 300BHP+ Megane RS’s on the day, in fact the only things quicker had at least twice my horsepower.
Well, apologies, Gerry. I didnt expect such a strong reply, I must say, Im clearly well out of order.
It wont happen again.
Oh, and no, I am not part of MOT, just a guy trying to get people together for good, safe days, thats all.
Again, sorry for my outrageous behaviour.
