Booked! Looking forward to this.
Just booked, looks like I just squeezed in.
Slightly worried about the sound levels though. Currently running a MX5 twin box exhaust which is quite loud. It should be OK though shouldn’t it?
GBB - got a mobile? Go to the app store, there’s an app for sound levels, you can check it yourself - with some help on the pedal! Revs need to be around 2/3 of the way up - that’s how they will be checked on the day. Hold the phone about three feet from the exhausts - do each one, then try and read between the two. Not totally reliable, but should give you some idea of if you’ll pass or not.
Not hustling anyone, but only four tickets left now (7.20 pm. 27/1/16)
Sorry double post.
Thanks, downloaded. Now I need to dig the MX out of hibernation.
Any rules on wheels/tyres?
Re GBB’s post on noise usually taken “round the back” at 4000rpm or thereabouts usually measured as 3/4 throttle static, seems standard rpm for most cars, that’s always been the norm at HSA, BOC events etc, PH.

Not specifically, as stated tyres should be roadworthy, no mention of wheels. MX’s don’r sit too well on monster wheels though.
Considering time of year, and possibility of a wet track, then I’d suggest good tread, however we won’t permit smoothies in any case. From my own experience, don’t come with brand new tyres either - the thought of what you just paid is an inhibitive factor, as I found out!
Thanks. I might need to take advice. My “better” wheels have Toyos with a slight (but legal) stretch on them. Those tyres need wearing down so I can replace them with ones without stretch (I bought them wth tyres), my other wheels are just daisy’s with legal but poorer quality tyres on them.
I’m bringing this, is it OK Gerryn?
Just one ticket remaining this morning
*** SOLD OUT ***
Seems a shame no tickets were held back for non-Forum users.
Hi all, We will be at the track on the 08/04 all day so we will be pretty tracked out but we will be down on the 09/04 to spectate and support the event and bring a few spares if required, look forward to meeting up - you’re in for a cracking day, our next BroadspeedMX5 event is booked for the 06/05/2016 and if you get the bug your most welcome to join us.
Best Regards Chris@BroadspeedMX5
Not sure what you mean about ‘stretch’? If you mean the rims are 7" wide, with 6.5 tyres on, then while I’m not really qualified to O/K them but your’e happy on the road with them, then I’d opt for the Toyos any day, that’s what I’ve got - on 6.5 rims. Others may differ - wait and see.
Martin - if it passes an MOT and it’s insured (and you are serious) why not.
(Yeah - I know you’re having a laugh!)
Can anyone drive that thing?
Iain - thanks for the heads up, but we can all breathe a sigh of relief.
The original plan was for this event to go live on the same day as the STHT was advertised to go in the post, ,but for some reason there has been a delay in its distribution.
If you go on to the ticket site http://store.mx5oc.co.uk/curborough-sprint-956-p.asp and register your e-mail address for when tickets are back in stock that will put you on the reserve list. you will be notified if a cancellation has been submitted.
Peter
Andy -
The Store will take up to five reserve places, if anyone cancels before the deadline, then places will be given in turn to each reserve.
Yes - small solace to STHT readers, and I agree we did it wrong, but if you followed the original thread you know we were poorly advised on the date STHT hit’s any doormat - I include Peter in the ‘we’.
However - while I don’t know everyone yet (many haven’t posted on here) some of the ones that did are newbies in the sense they haven’t done an event before, or did Curborough years ago - on sprint events.‘Oldies’ are mainly people I know from past events at Curborough and more than welcome, they are the mainstay of this event. However, I did want to attract newcomers as they represent the future continuation of this - and other track events, and it’s been a pleasure for me to know that some have progressed into official sprint and race events from earlier track events. Even the track at Haynes came up with a result in that respect, though I merely booked it, Nick and his team did the hard work.
Anyway - the real intent of starting this was to get it re-instated on the Club Calendar, and full booking means it will carry on next year. So while the blurb in STHT leads to a dead end, at least it wakes people up to the fact this is a popular event and maybe they’ll look at Motorsport - rather than STHT next year!
I’m sure Peter will include it in future STHT’s going forward, but this year wasn’t handled so well.
Nuff said!
Hi Chris, and thanks for this, we look forward to seeing you on the day. I see May 6th is a Friday - have you booked it all day, and how many cars are you allowed to book?
IIRC - weekday bookings are cheaper, but numbers are limited to around ten or twelve cars? Weekdays are classed as ‘Test Days’ - right?
Some of our latecomers may want to jump in on this.
