Cure for idle droop - what to spray

Ive seen this thread in engine FAQ :

How to......clean the throttle body to cure persistant idle droop--NA (MK1)

My MK2 is still suffering idle droop after new plugs and leads.  I seems most prevelant as engine starts to warm, idle drops to 850 at its not yet fully warm.  I find it some times drops to 500 rpm but seems to stop doing it once properly warmed up.  I was wondering if the thread topic may work on the MK2 1.8 and therefore the obvious question which I hope isnt to daft - what is it that is being sprayed?

Carb cleaner?

Dont take my word for it though…

I have never had this problem so haven’t tried any of the products available. This one sounds ok, and if I were going to do the procedure, it’s the one I would use

Throttle-body-cleaner

iv done the IACV clean out with carb cleaner from halfords as it also mentions for injection cars too.

Dont use it on before the air flow meter though [;)]

Thanks all.  I’ve got come halfords carb cleaner, just wanted to be sure before I messed something up.  I’ll get on with it at the weekend, and ensure a put some towels around to catch run out.  I presume I spray it against closed throttle flap and into opening with trottle held open?
