So I picked up a 2011 NC 1.8 PRHT back in Jan2018 for £9k which (at the time) I knew was probably a little on the high side, but it was immaculate condition and only had 36k miles on it, and came with a bunch of dealer servicing included so I was happy enough. Never had an issue with it. All good.
But I’m now considering trading it up a bit. It’s a fairly ‘standard’ base model, and I figured that now that the ND models are older than mine was when I bought it, there would be some good deals around.
Except… it seems that even the oldest ND in a vaguely similar condition is still well over £10k… And that’s for a soft-top model. The RF version is almost £20k. Unless I’m really looking in all the wrong places!
So I did consider keeping to an NC, but a later model, maybe one with some bells and whistles my ‘standard’ model doesn’t have. Perhaps with a more pristine paint finish (mine is actually pretty good but there’s a few stone-chips here and there on the bonnet etc).
Edit: Something like the NC 25th Anniversary Edition exists, and would seem to be the ‘ultimate’ version of the NC, but its about £11k for a 40k mile one (ish).
Figured it was worth an ask from the pros! Appreciate any thoughts etc.
After driving an ND - personally - I prefer the interior of my NC.
If I ever change my 2006 NC Sport - it will most likely be for the latest NC I can find for the budget.
I love the styling of the ND but I can’t help feeling it’s not intrinsically different from the NC, just a lot more cash.
I’ve got a ‘06 /47k rustless for 3.5k and it’s very difficult to justify spending twice/thrice or four times that for much the same experience.
That doesn’t stop me trying of course. We are human so, something different is always on our mind regardless of whether it’s better or worse🙂
I can relate to that theory.
My 06 has around 80k on it right now.
Another engine may find it’s way in to the car at some point but right now the car does just what I want.
I’m in a similar situation, I have a 2011 ‘boggo’ 1.8 in aluminium colour in literally perfect condition.
I think about upgrading because I believe I’d benefit from a pokier engine, a sixth gear and I would like a bit more safety kit too. But then when I think harder about it I realise I very rarely go over 60mph and I drive a very careful 1500 miles or so a year, so the additional power and safety kit would make very little difference. There is also an argument that the smaller engined NC3s handle more fluidly because they are lighter but I can’t really comment on that since I haven’t driven the bigger units or the faster ND.
Oh and I think I’d rather have spare cash to hand right now…
