I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: New half cover
.Hi all, I appreciate this subject has probably been done to death, but I am looking for somebody who has purchased a half cover from UK Customcar covers?
When we got our ND 4 years ago we bought a half cover from MX Parts which we always have on the car when it is not in use. This cover is now splitting and it is time for a new one, but the current price is now the best part of £100, and given the general quality of this item it is not really worth that sort of money. Also it is not waterproof, (OK not a problem as it is not advertised as such), it fits well, but I no longer consider it “value for money” at the current price.
While looking at alternatives I came across Custom Car Covers who offer a similar product that is advertised at virtually the same price but is “waterproof”.
…so just wondering if anybody can recommend (or otherwise), this item instead of the MX5 Parts option?
I use one of their roof covers and it’s excellent. The securing system is excellent too. I went for the silver grey version as it helps to reflect heat in the summer.
I used one on my boxster a full fitted one and it was excellent fitted like a glove. The only problem was if dust is on the car it can scratch the paintwork but that’s like all cover and not a isolated problem. The cover was very well made. I have not had one for my mx5 but I bet the quality just the same.
Fitted our new half cover from Custom Covers (UK) today. Quality wise it’s in a different league to the one we got from Mazda-parts 4 years ago. Probably 3 times the weight, and appears to be significantly better quality as well as being advertised as waterproof. It does take a little longer to fit, but for more or less the same money it appears to be a vastly superior product in term of quality. I think at £40 - £50 the Mazda-part half cover would be “OK” value, but it is now the best part of £100!!..
