Cybul Wheel Rack Question

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __NC MX5
  2. I’m based near: __ Lincoln
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __ Cybul Wheel Rack

Hi all.

Has anybody here installed the Cybul wheel rack to their MX5?

Im trying to understand how safe they are, in terms of being able to transport a set of spare wheel attached to the rack.

The rack bolts to the body of the car where the hardtop would normally bolt to. Does anybody know if these fixing points are strong enough to take the weight of the rack and the wheels, is it structural?

Thanks.

Craig

Before you worry about fixing points I would suggest you work out the weights. Add up the weights of the wheel/tyres, rack and all the equipment you plan to carry including your weight and if applicable your passengers weight and make sure you stay within the max weight of the car.

Already done thank you and that isn’t an issue.

Craig.

I have one, see photos. I have only used it once for a trackday and it works well.

That looks ideal. Thanks for the images. Does it feel solid when loaded with the wheels?

Craig.

There is some flex when fully loaded, but that is to be expected with that much weight. I havent used it since then as I am a bit too lazy to change the wheels once at track.

Hmm, just a thought, but did you consider adding a couple of short brace-bars to clamp onto the roll-cage?

I did think about doing this with a bar or ratchet strap or just have three wheels on the rack and one on the passenger seat, but I haven’t used it since
