Do you have some recommended way of transporting bike? I saw that many people use Saris Bones or Thule one - any chance you can share photos and experience?
And is it a problem with police? Not sure what’s the law around bike racks
I have had a Saris Bones rack for many years, but have never had the need to use it on my MX5, however it is very adjustable and I see no reason why it would not work, also MX5 Parts used to sell them for the 5. Hth, good luck.

We used to have the Saris Bones and I used it to transport my mountain bike from Yorkshire down to Berkshire. All I would suggest is using cloth underneath the metal hooks so it doesn’t damage the paintwork. I actually used some cellulose kitchen sponges and worked a treat as they are slightly grippy too.
Not sure about this, but I’m guessing that you could fit a towball onto your 5.
I used to have a Thule rack that sat on a towball, which would almost certainly reduce the chances of damaging your car, and help your chances of getting in the boot.
I use a Hollywood F2 rack. I originally got it because I had a Fiesta ST, and this model has high fastening arms for the straps so they can hook to the top of a hatch without touching the roof spoiler.
It turns out that this rack also works a treat on the MX5.

Correct the MX5 is not homogelated to tow so tow bars are not readily available, however if you do find one it may be ok if or a bike rack as that’s not towing but you would need to check legality insurance etc.
