I think I pressed the button to soon!
Anyway, not keen on positioning the stick on DAB Aerial to the top of the NS Windscreen. Has anybody located at the bottom of the screen successfully?
Regards Glenn

With the aftermarket type that’s pretty much your lot.

If you don’t have the BOSE system - you could get a DAB aerial and mount it where the dash speaker should be.
The puck type aerial is quite cheap if you do want to put it in the dash.

Have put a couple of DAB aerials on other cars in the dash cutout.

I positioned mine around midway on the offside on the screen. Reason for this was on my last NC with the dash cam wiring running down the NS screen pillar I was getting a break up of DAB signals as soon as the cam switched on.
Mine works pretty well now and happy with no real interference as before.

Very interesting solution, thank you, did you run the cable through the speaker grill? Via a slot I assume.
Not sure what you mean by a “puck type” aerial and fitting it in the dash. Can you elaborate?

If you look at the link - the aerial looks like a hockey puck. ( round black disc )

The aerial fits UNDER the grill in the place of the centre speaker so you don’t see it at all.

Yes - it is quite easy to drop the cable from the middle of the dash to the back of the head unit.

Got it. Very clever. Did you glue the puck to the underside of the grill, ie upside down ?

NO - I made a small metal bracket that fitted between two of the speaker screw holes and allowed the puck to face up as intended.

The piece of metal was a stereo support bracket from Halfords.
Easy to bend so the puck sits low enough to go under the speaker grill.

Again many thanks Dean. Just need the bits and the rain to stop! Regards Glenn

Just to add another opinion I went for the more expensive option of replacing the original aerial with a DAB one when i replaced the head until. Looks and works brilliantly.

Thanks Michael, just in case the Puck Aerial does not work can you let me know which DAB Aerial you purchased? Minor progress today, I removed the 10mm bolt, and installed the Mike.

Its an ICT 70 964, if that helps great reception and looks great. Dont like anything on my windows. Costed £50 which wasnt too bad and managed to sell the old one.

Just to add to experiences, this did not work for me. I didn’t receive any station with the puck type. A cheap Chinese stick to windscreen did receive a lot of stations. Only I have put mine on the tray behind the seats where the opened soft top sits with just about enough reception. Going to search if it can harm the rear window defroster if I stick it to the rear window as reception was a bit better than in the tray. I have a JVC KW-M745DBT.

When I updated my 2015 NC head unit with Apple Carplay and reversing camera, the DA B aerial is a clear plastic one adhered on the near side of the windscreen. Perfect signal and it’s unobtrusive.

I installed a Sony CarPlay head unit at the weekend and used one of these: https://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/connects2-ct27uv70-universal-discreet-amplified-dab-digital-radio-antenna-glass-mount-aerial.html

Tucks in neatly behind the trim at the top of the windscreen, with the cable run down the A pillar alongside the existing wiring. Invisible and working perfectly so far.

Hello there,
I had problems with my DAB signal in my MK2 using a stick on antenna mounted at the top left of the windscreen.
My solution was to replace my electric antenna base with a manual base fit a stuby black antenna and also a DaB spliter booster in the signal supply to the head unit.
Problem solved.
Regards
Nic

I also installed the same aerial as flobble, see link above, possibly at the same time! It is also small enough to fit under the blank speaker grill on the dash replacing the Puck Aerial. This is the very clever mod suggested by BRDeano described above, unfortunately the Eightwood Puck Aerial did not work for me. (The new Aerial is stuck to the bracket made to attach the Puck Aerial). When amplified the signal is really strong. Worth pointing out to readers that the aerial amplifier is powered from the head unit via the coax. Not sure if all head units have this capability. My problem now is that despite the strong signal I am getting crackling and break up across most of the stations and even FM. I assume the its picking up interference from some where. I have disconnected the earth wire from the ( home made) aerial mounting bracket which seems to have solved the problem. Need to go on a good run today to try out. If sill a problem will move around the 6m or so of of aerial lead.
I do wonder if I should have just gone with the easy option of fitting a good glass mounted aerial as per Dave T H above! Anyway, thanks to everybody for their contributions. Regards Glenn

Hi flobble, just for info where did you put the excess cable once you came down the A Post? Also did you just coil up or tie up in say 1 foot lengths? Regards Glenn

I’ve had this aerial below fitted in my previous NC and I bought another for the present NC.

The previous NC I had to fiddle about adding ferrites to the cabling as I got interference from my dash cam when it fired up. The current NC the Dab aerial is fixed on the opposite side of the windscreen OS, away from any cabling of the dash cam, that runs down the NS ‘A’ pillar.
Travelling around the Peak District sometimes my data signal drops out on the phone in the more remote areas, the DAB signal is usually still there. It occasionally cuts out but that’s the same on my daily drivers fully built in DAB system, just certain spots.
