Hi guys trying to restore a Dakar need a drivers seat that’s serviceable and a reasonable price or any other option I could go for did mazda put the grey leather with blue piping in any other car spec as I’ve only got 400 to look for and a lot must be off the road now or a passenger seat for a panel replacement would work
Having just recoloured my leather seats it’s not as hard as I thought so that might be an option for you if you can’t get something that is a direct match. However the piping colour cannot be easily changed as far as I am aware.
Technically, the Dakar, like most of the other UK Mk1 special editions, were actually retrims carried out by the official importer at the time, Mazda Cars Limited (despite the name, not factory owned, and now no longer the official importers), so the covers weren’t actually a Mazda part (and this is true of any of the UK Mk1s sold in the UK from 1994 with leather). You might contact MCL, who still exist, down in Kent, but probably they won’t be much help. You might need to contact a specialist upholsteror who can reupholster the seat from scratch, using whatever is left of the original leather (presuming you have a car with worn out seats) as a pattern. The specialist might well be able to save move of the original leather, and colour match replacement panels.
