Hi there
I have a 1995 California with what looks like a Dallas immobiliser. I have the usual problem of only having one key fob. I’ve searched through the forum and other people have asked the same question about spares. There are some listed on E bay, but do you need a serial number or some thing to order a replacement. Also does any one know how to program the new one.
Thanks
Dave
I’m trying to find out about these myself as I’m in the same boat with only one fob.
As far as I’ve found out so far you buy a blank fob and then you can program it using your existing one. Not sure about the procedure yet though.
I’ve found plenty of places selling them but no body knows how to program them, If you manage to find out please let me know.
Here we go.

I think you need to make sure you get the right type of button. Mine is a Dallas DS1990-F3.
Someone on the attached thread had a problem programming theirs. It may be that they had a different model of button.
I read this thread the other day after searching through google and noted the programm method didn’t work in this case. I then contacted an electronics company that supply the parts and they didn’t think it would be as simple as that.
Let me know how you get on with it, did you get the number DS1990-F3 of the the bit that looks like a big watch battery? Where are you getting your spares from?
The guy who had a problem had a F5 button rather than the F3. I’ll know in a few days if that was his problem as I’ve just ordered an F5 from a place on Ebay. (Only 2 quid with free postage so thought it was worth a shot.)
I’ll let you know if that works. If it doesn’t then I’ll have to find an F3.
OK, here’s an update.
I bought a non magnetic Dallas ibutton epos key DS1990A-F5 from an ebay seller for 2 quid with free delivery. It arrived this morning, I rushed out to the car and went through the programming procedure and it works perfectly.
Just to recap on the programming to save people from hunting through other threads all you have to do is disarm the immobiliser with your existing ibutton then after the light has gone green hold the new button up to the receiver. The light will flash green again and the beeper will sound then it’s ready for use. It really is as simple as that.
This was the Ebay link I got it on.

Great I’ve ordered the one from you link, I’ll let you know if it works
Thanks
New key just arrived, programmed no problem, two quid well spent.
Thanks to Robbie for telling me how to program it
I’ve just bought one and followed your guide, it took a couple of goes but works perfectly.
Thanks!
