Dash Cam size

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __ND1 ST
  2. I’m based near: __N W London
    1. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __dash cam size

Oddly after having people tailgate me when I am on my motorcycle and the the fact I feel quite vulnerable in my 5 (from a fiat 500) I am considering getting a dashcam.

I am thinking of this Miofive 4k dash cam, which is long apparently 18cmx 15cm x 7cm.

I am not sure if its too big to fit in front of the mirror or not.

Cheers for any help

That does sound quite big. What is it you’re trying to achieve with the dashcam? To have evidence if needed if something does happen, or as a visual deterrent to try and deter tailgaters etc. Or both?

Just that you may want to think about a simultaneous front & rear dashcam setup, if you want a bit more of a deterrent (if those you’re trying to give you more space notice of course!!)

FWIW, I use a RoadAngel Halo Pro setup my ND, but that’s more to capture interesting roads and drives, more than any specific ‘safety’ aspect.

Hi Wardy, all of the above, just in case and a visual deterrent, although I am not sure anyone cares tbh.

I will check sizing as it looks much smaller on youtube videos

I chose a Viofo WM1. Only issue I have is the WiFi is only 2.4Ghz, so slow to download any clips. I just pop out the card and put it in my laptop when necessary.

At £47.95, shame they’re out of stock. Maybe there’s a replacement on the way, I don’t know…

I have a bigger 3 channel one (Vantrue N4 Pro) but if I put it under/behind the rear view mirror the internally facing camera is obscured and I fear it will fail an MOT to to obsuring the windscreen in the swept area. I guess I could remove it before an MOT and live without the internally facing camera… If I put it on the passenger side, the sun visor hits it when it when moved down…
