My wife is always complaining about the suicidal tendencies of the cyclists in Bristol, where she works, and I’m thinking of getting one for her Mazda 3 to put her, and my own, mind at rest. I myself have had some experience of Bristol cyclists too, and I am constantly disbelieving of some of the stunts they pull.
With the more and more overcrowding of our roads these days, after years of being quite sceptical about dash-cams, I’m beginning to come round.

Just bought one and it arrived last Wednesday. It’s a Nextbase 312gw and so far I’m really pleased with it. You also need a micro SD card which I got a 64gb version giving 8 hours of recording before it over writes.
This model won ‘Which’ Best Buy and is mid range at £74 plus SD card. Picture and sound quality is excellent recording at 1080P in HD. Recording length is selected by the user into a series of 2/3/5 minute files which are easy to download onto an app. The changeover is seamless so continuous recording really.
Was worried about trailing wires as plugged into cigar lighter but virtually all has been tucked away. Currently in my Golf but ordered another power cable and mount to I can use it in my MK2.5 as well.
Wish I’d bought one before.
Still somewhat concerned that the dash cam may have been shaken into submission in my MX5 after only 2.5 years and say only 15000 miles driving.
So if I need to replace it I suppose a cheaper one than my £159 Nextbase 512G. would be better.
I see that AndrewR bought the G312GW, but the price at £74 seems low for that model. The G312G (no “W”) seems more in the £74 price range.
Sometimes wonder if your own dash cam footage can be incriminating as well as protecting.
Even if someone carelessly pulls out in front of me my better half tends to scream out things like “Careful, watch what you’re doing” at me!! All nicely recorded to weaken my case.
ET - It’s definitely the Nextbase 312GW I bought as I’ve just checked and is £74.95 on Amazon. They do the 312G at 69.95 as well. The GW version has built in Wi Fi for transferring files to another device.
Turn off the sound recording option!
