I am in the process of buying a black MX5 Kuro. Have paid deposit.
I don’t like the decals on the bottom of the door etc. A bit too boy racer for me (a mature lady). The dealer seemed happy to remove them using some thing called a caramel tool I think.
On researching I have seen quite a few images of Kuro s without decals. Were they an option extra when new?
Also, the paintwork on the Kuro is sparkly and I am told that this is achieved by a lacquer over the paintwork. Would the decals
have been applied before lacquering? I am worried their removal will leave an un-lacquered strip?
Anyone have experience or experience of this please?
That is a relief. The dealership is not a Mazda specialist and I was concerned they might make a mess of it for lack of that specialist knowledge - though they seem very efficient.
Leave them on Kuro’s look better with the stripes than without (in my opinion). Take em off and it becomes just a black MX5 with Black wheels.
I’m amazed at how many people stop, look and take photos of my Kuro and comment on how nice/different it is. Doubt she would create as much interest without the stripes.
I am so sorry, I fully understand why you say what you do, but I am a 60 year old woman (just 60 - this is my birthday present!) and don’t plan to sell the car ever. I wanted a 2.0 sport tech but I wanted lighter coloured seats. Everyone on here seems to go on about personalising their car and I felt that was what I was doing. Personally, I love the decals on the white car and even the red, but just not on the black. Might have kept them if Id got a white one. Though I doubt it!
Why not leave them for now and see how you feel in a month or so. By that time you will probably have fallen in love with it just the way it is. Take them off now and you might regret it later.
Alas the decals are now history. I respect your views, I really do, but I think that just buying an MX-5 at my age says that I am reasonably young at heart and I think I have learnt the wisdom of doing what I want and not what others tell me I should do - with the greatest respect to everyone on here with a different opinion.
It may not have stripes, but it will be sooooo cherished!
Shame… although I think you are right the stripes do look better on the white and red. I’d have left them on and took them off later if I couldn’t live with them. However you must do whats right for you.
At 60 its a great present to yourself your only regret is likely to be that you didnt buy it earlier!
Sounds like you’ve done your homework on choosing the car. You’ve made your own decision on what YOU want but asked for the advice and opinions of others and taken that on board. Think you will find that is fine with everyone on here.
Not many cars that are just the way they came out of the factory, we all choose to add, remove or change things.
The following statement makes no sense. I’ve been to national meets and seen rows of identical cars that are all different. It makes no sense but you know what I mean.
You are going to have so much fun with the car that you have already made your own.
I’m pleased you understand where I am coming from. I am picking it up on Saturday and really cant wait! Just hope it doesn’t rain too hard as I will be driving it back from Sheffield area to Cheshire over the Pennines! It will be fun whatever.
