I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __
Just had both rear discs delaminate! I always associated this with cars that have been laid up for a while, but mine has been used every day for at least an hour for the last six months. Noticed first as a rotational clicking near the end of a four hour drive. They are in a right old mess….
I live in a very exposed environment just a hundred yards from the sea and the inside of the disc isnt damaged at all
Took a couple of hours to swap them out as I already had some new pads and the discs were ‘ off the shelf ‘ at ECP today. Just got it all sorted as the storm has built. Ended up doing the second side in full waterproofs!
No. I was expecting this, but, with the brake resevoir caps loosened, both calipers were easily retracted. Very reassuring as this does seem to be a problem from searches I’ve done.
That’s interesting. I’ve lived seaside for over twenty years and this has only just been an issue recently.
All the discs from both my TT and the MX have been replaced in the last year for various reasons. Be interesting to see how they fare.
On the glass half full side of things, it’s nice that my precious has a new full set of brakes….
There is huge price difference between rotors. Mine were £20 ish each but some were twice that, or more. What’s the justification?
Given my recent problems with delaminating maybe there is a case for spending a bit more?
^^^^^ very nice. I’m a cheapskate but only saved twenty quid over those. But the fronts were chattering and the rears delaminating so it had to be done pronto. Still, got a lovely IL Motosport exhaust for a third of retail today. Swings and roundabouts….
