Hi Everybody,
I have just bought an 02 sport and looking to get the most of the handling of the car, took it out this evening and car feels a little skittish.
At the moment the car has avons, eagle f1 and some another make which I am not sure of, having read a lot of the posts, it looks like i need a set of new tyres (all present tyres have good tread), all the same flavour and wheel alignment.Demon Tweeks is nearby and they are offering wheel alignment for £42. Toyo tr-1s look like the popular choice. Has anybody used tweeks before and where could i get a deal on the tyres 205/45/16.
First timer so be gentle with me.
Thank Paul
G’day mate, welcome to the forum—
Just a couple of pointers:-
It’s a good idea to put your rough location in your profile [this helps with us offering advice etc].
Also please put your car details in your sig, again helps when advice is being sought.
As you are finding out one thing an MX5 of any year/Mk hates is an odd set of boots
Toyo, Goddyear Eagle F1 are both very popular for the '5. Can’t comment on DT, when I was last in the UK they didn’t offer the service IRRC
In the absence of a location in your profile, can we assume that you’re near to Wrexham? I believe that’s where Demon Tweeks are based …
I was looking for someone to do a four-wheel alignment on my Volvo a while back, and looked on www.alignmycar.co.uk to find places nearby with the right kit to do the job. Buckley Tyres and Demon Tweeks are both quite close to me, but I heard a few not-especially-complementary things about Demon Tweeks so I took it to Buckley Tyres instead. They did a grand job for me, at a very reasonable cost. I’ve also bought tyres from them, for which they’ve always been very competitive and carry a good range - and I’ll be taking my '5 there for a four-wheel alignment very soon.
Thanks for the tips about profile etc,
I’d be interested to know what they actually do for the £42 as it sounds very cheap to me, and thats not something Demon Tweeks are usually accused of. Is it a full alignment, or just a “check”, also does it include VAT?
There is a good place near me (Chemix in Stourbridge, West Midlands) that does it for £58.75 and thats as cheap as I’ve found - they have one of the Hunter Laser alignment machines. WIM is meant to be about the best place to take it to… but they are in Bucks, so a bit of a trek for you!
Russell.
