Dent in lower plastic bumper - how to repair?

Have unfortunately managed to put a small dent in the lower lip of my front bumper after catching a grass bank while parking. I’m amazed that it’s dented, I didn’t think that plastic would do this! Effectively there is a small patch of cracked paintwork which doesn’t worry me, can easily be retouched, but when the sun shines on the front the dent is really quite noticeable.

I know there are many companies who can repair dents in metal but what about plastic? I’ve also noted that it would be quite difficult to get to the back of the bumper since it’s sealed to the vehicle underside.

I can’t be the first person who has done this…and I don’t want to have to pay for a complete new front bumper. Does anybody know how this could be repaired? I’m not even sure the plastic could be reset or reprofiled.

Any suggestions?

I’ve had some damage to my front bumper, but never anything that didn’t pop out with a shove from behind. My car hasn’t got the undertrays fitted, but they aren’t that hard to take off. Also my car doesn’t have the wheel arch liners which might get in the way too, but again, these aren’t dificult to remove.

All this is for the standard bumper on the mk1. I now have a fibreglass front bumper and those shatter when you hit stuff - the OE plastics are amazingly durable in comparision.
