Detailing Externally - My Route to a wet look shine. Comments Welcome.

Matt

The DA (Dual Action) polisher I use is fine for the novice, I have only been detailing cars for 12months, I only do my cars and neighbours and only charge for the materials used, I don’t want it to be a business… too much like hard work!!![:)]

The 5 took 6 hours to properly polish the 1st time, using a 4 pass process- the car had been clayed before several times.

  1. Using Sonus SFX-1  restore polish SFX-1 pad
    2. Using Sonus SFX -2 enhance polish SFX-2 pad
    3. Using Sonus SFX-3  Final finish polish SFX-3 pad
    4.Clearcote red moose glaze - SFX-3 pad
    5. Clearcote Carnuba wax - applied by hand

The process 1-4 are applied and worked with the DA and wiped/buffed of with microfibre cloths. It pasically cuts the paint at 1 to the photo stage in my previous post, then the cut reduces right until stage 3 which is the 1st polish with virtually no cut. The glaze seals the paint and brings up the depth of shine in the red paint on my 5, this glaze is very good for dark cars. The Carnuba wax seals the car and again increases the depth of colour.

The car after that is washed weekly with Meguires Gold class suds with a lambswool mitt using the 2 bucket method.  It only needs the machine again using the glaze every 3 months and more Carnuba.
