I ideally want to buy an all makes, all systems scan tool that I can use to read/clear fault codes on our MX-5 and my wife’s 2016 MINI, as well as other friends’/family’s cars. I’d rather have a tool which doesn’t have a built-in battery, as I expect it’ll end up in a cupboard for a year or two, then when I get it out a tablet-based tool would probably have a flat, and maybe bricked, battery.
Has anyone got any recommendations? I liked the look of the Foxwell NT680, but Foxwell say it doesn’t work on my MX-5…
Another option is to buy a bluetooth dongle or a USB lead and then get the IOS or Windows version of Forscan, but that wouldn’t give me the all makes coverage. Is that a better bet for the MX-5 though, or are there all makes tools which work well?
