DIAMOND BRITE

Hi all, a quick question and apologies if its been discussed before.

My dealer offered to Diamond shine my ND for £200. He said it would take about 6 hours so I am guessing it would be a proper job.

Anyone had this done, is it a good deal ???

that is cheaper than usual, but i would save your £200 and buy a spray on hybrid ceramic wax. i use Auto Glanz products however Meguiars do their own version. I have now seen that Turtle wax doe their own verison now and it seems to be getting a lot of praise from detailer reviewers on Youtube, particularly Pan the Organizer, whos videos are really worth watching

Auto Glanz product is £15 for 500ml as is Meguiars, i think you can get a litre of turtle wax for the same money.

I have found an application last for around 4-5 months, 1/5th of the bottle used for full car (used on Seat Leon as the MX5 was coated with a 12 month wax when it was in for paint correction a few months ago). easy to use aswell, spray on and wipe off with a fluffy cloth!

In my opinion most dealers will not spend enough time applying this product properly and it will be a waste of money. If you don’t want to do it yourself then use a professional detailer to apply the protection they recommend for your car. The results will be so much better.

I’m guessing a bloke on the minimum wage that is looking on Facebook on his mobile phone most of the time will be doing that with no interest at all in doing a good job on your car!!!

As advised buy a bottle of the polish and do it yourself!!!

I’m sure ChrisR would give you his opinion on this. I can, spend your money elsewhere but as I say wait for a prof detailers advice.

I agree with all the above, especially about advice from ChrisRs who’s posted much advice on polishing etc…  Save your money, do it yourself if you’re willing and able, if not put the funds towards having it done by a specialist detailer, or towards having the car given proper underbody protection.  Diamondbrite, Supagard etc. are sold by dealers on a commission basis, they’re not professional detailers, it’ll be little more than a bucket and sponge job.

As above not worth the money. Will be applied by someone who doesn’t really care.

If it’s not a ‘new car’ are they going to prep it correctly. Clay / compound / polish to get to a good surface before applying this product. I doubt it. Heh even a new car needs a decent clean.

I’d Avoid. There’s loads of good quick and easy to apply products out there even if you are not much into detailing.

Save the money and invest in quality soft wash mitts / drying towels / microfibre cloths etc from say microfibre madness.

Great for polishing and protecting your cars paintwork.

Very easy to use wash car first dry and then apply stage 1 with a clean dry cloth it will take off any dirt or grime left behind wait until it has gone milky it should take about 10 mins then go over with stage 2 give that a further 10 mins and then take them off using a clean dry cloth and you will have a showroom finish and it will be protected

this really makes me chuckle I work at quite a few car dealerships one, in particular, put an equivalent of diamond-bright on all cars when they pdi because it is cheaper than having to do it at a later date.

and it gets even better when you realize you are paying for it has part of your credit agreement so pay interest on it

and then there is the price they pay for it  that would really make you chuckle

my advice save £200 take it to a reputable detailer and get them to do it for you

As the rest have said its a waste of money and dealers only try and flog it for their commissions. When I brought my new GT Sport Nav a couple of months ago told the Dealer not to even wash it. Got a local Detailer to carry out a QTechnic paintwork treatment including roof and wheels and cost around £300 and took around 4 hours to do. Finish 10 times better then Diamondbrite.

Hi as some have already said save your money. I have always done my cars myself , Clay it then a good polish, plus the satisfaction you get to see end result is priceless ???

Lots of helpful and good advice provided on this subject. Strange no acknowledgment by DILLIGAF?

Justly chastised Andrew R !!!

Sorry have been a bit stressed as I was due to fly to Oz for my upcoming birthday and now the flight is cancelled ???

Advice taken re the polishing. Will try the ebay polish recommended.

Thanks for the update and sorry to hear about your flight problems.

I’ve never been one for polishing my cars.  So lazy git that I obviously am, when the Mazda main dealer where I bought my present MX-5 almost three years ago, told me I could have my car treated with Diamondbrite as part of my purchase, I let them get on with it.

I have to say it looked glorious when I picked the car up, and washing regularly ever since with Diamondbrite shampoo, and even occasionally using their restorer solution too, it still does look glorious.

However, not having any experience of polishing / detailing cars myself, I guess I do not have anything to compare it to !

Remembering this thread I clocked an unopened pack of Diamondbrite in a charity shop yesterday, £3 they wanted for it, to say I was tempted at that price but I’ve got too many bottles of various stuff sitting in my garage.

I’m highly delighted with the Bilt Hamber wax I bought last year coupled with products from the Autoglym range it make s my car look showroom fresh, whatever that is these days. I took it to a show at the weekend and I had so many comments from folk about the paint condition, some couldn’t believe it’s never had a respray in it’s 12 year life, although I think the front bumper has seen a blow over at some point before my ownership. One guy wanted to buy it there and then, I refused of course especially when I saw the look from my OH
