Different exhaust hangers - why? Resolved

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __NC 3.5
  2. I’m based near: __Scunthorpe
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: _ Exhaust rubber hanger differences

Hi, I have just dropped the rubber hangers off my completely standard rear silencer to give clearance for rustproofing and noticed there are two different hangers. One is wider and shorter with a cross bar, the other longer and thinner.
The car is factory spec and I have owned it for 8 years so it came from the factory like this.
The confusing part is on the passenger side, photographed, the thick hanger was on the front, on the drivers side it was on the back.
Is this right, it looks weird.
My guess is the thicker shorter ones on the front to take the weight, but it is a guess.maybe it’s on the rear to give less movement?

There are two sizes on these models, see here.

Barrie

Well stuff me with a root vegetable I would not have believed it.
Diagonally paired rubbers, (and correctly fitted to my car).
Thanks for the quick reply Barrie, I was convinced it was wrong, but it isn’t.
