I have a new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone.
My old car mount for the Note 1 does not fit.
The Note 3 is exactly the same width as the DIN cubbybox below the radio and fits in there snugly.
Can anyone think of a phone mount that would sit in that 1 DIN space? I know there are flip-out mounts for small flatscreen for navigation systems.
I’m thinking on something which would hold the phone in the same orientation as the radio fascia.
The oroginal Samsung phone mount suckered onto the windscreen, and is very good.
I just would prefer something down lower near the stereo.
Having googled a bit, what do people think of using a piece of wood as a ‘plug’ into the DIN cubbybox,
then fastening a phone case to the front of it, using glue or flatheaded screws?
I’d be tempted to buy some speaker carpet matting and cover the wooden plug, to make it look nice.
Then fasten a cradle to this maybe ?
I had a piece of stainless made up and attached a cradle for my note 2 in the mk3.
The cable then routed out of site through the back of the stainless plate and was permanent wired in for charging.
Something similar may work?
Deltalimike, that looks great.
What I am going to do is buy a DIN blanking plate - wilcodirect have them for 4 quid but I can’t paste th elink!
Then get a cheap cradle and bolt it to the blanking plate.
How do you attach an image to this forum please?
I ahve completed my phone mount - a nine pound phone mount from Amazon, which I took apart to use the ‘cradle’ part.
Plus a 4 pound DIN blanking plate from wilcodirect - which already has a hole dead centre plus a bolt with the same thread as the phone colder balljoint!
Result!
I can’t say how it fits in the car yet - mine is at Sulsdon Hills at the moment, having a major makeover.

I use photobucket copy and paste the last IMG code.
Glad you have sorted it.
