- My model of MX-5 is: 2002 Sport
- I’m based near: Skipton
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: soft top replacement
Any opinions, please, on which manufactures’ soft tops are easiest to DIY install?
Thanks.

They’re all much the same. I don’t think any of them have particular fitting issues. Overall, BAS hoods come closest to OE quality.
Thanks.
I can recommend the book ‘MX-5 Do it up!’ produced by Haynes. I fitted a new hood to my first Mk1 using the instructions in there. Lots of clear colour pictures of the job being done by an expert. Apart from lifting the hood and frame off and back on again it’s all easily done on your own. Took me about four or five hours on the drive on a sunny day.
Many thanks for that.
I do have that book and am planning to use the instructions therein once I eventually get round to replacing the softtop.
It’s good to know, thank you, that those instructions are reliable.
