hi ive a 1.6 w reg mk2, i bought a front suspension strut but it wont fit, it dosnt seem to clear the engine, the guy that sold it me said it wont if you have ABS but how do you find out if you have ? the reg is W381XBV thanks for any help Rus
If you have ABS fitted you should when you turn on the ignition get a warning light, which will then go out if ABS is ok.
Hi Rus! if you have abs there will be sensors on each of the wheel hubs and a wire coming from it , no wires no abs .

just looked no wires visable so looks like a wrong part sent ,typical lol
Rus, I meant you should check the other wheel hubs, as the sensor and wire may have been taken out of the one you bought, if that has an abs sensor .

Look under the bonnet,from the front look to your right next to the washer bottle,there should be a block with small pipes coming out of the top of it,if no block and no pipes…no ABS,but to be honest you should tell when you drive her,engine runnig,turn the steering wheel from left to right.if its really hard and heavy to do,then you have not,if its dead easy then you have.
hi just looked nothing there can see holes where it would bolted on so thats confirmed it cheers everyone back to finding the right one, does the strut make much difference to the handling when fitted? or is it not worth doing? ta Rus
A W reg UK 1.6 will not have ABS. ABS was only fitted to 1.8iS until 2001.
