I was just reading the latest Moss catalogue for the 5 and looking at the Robin’s tonneau covers it says the original Mazda ones are prone to coming off mid-drive and flying away which is a bit worrying, is this true and has it happened to anyone on here?
Thanks,
Ben
Never happened to me…It would have to force off a lot of press studs to actualy fly off & they can be a tight fit.
But then maybe when you hit 150 MPH…who knows? [;)]
As above, given the number of tight poppers and stuff, seems unlikely
I don’t want to sound the cynic but remember Moss are trying to flog you a new one!!!
I tend to use my tonneau cover quite a bit as my OCD takes over when there are ugly hinges etc sitting up above the waistline, if it’s all studded up correctly and you remember to use the two straps that secure to the roof under the parcel shelf (this stops the flapping), then I can’t see you having any problems. I’ve been into 3 figure territory with mine (on the track I hasten to add) and haven’t lost the cover…yet!
Thanks for the replies[:)]
I’m after an OEM tonneau cover, have been for a while on eBay, there’s always a few available just haven’t got round to bidding for any yet!!! better get my skates on now the weather is warming up it seems!!!
I do think the tonneau cover finishes the car off nicely as i’m not a fan of the hinges etc… protruding from the car, once the cover is on the car looks very nice indeed[:)]
Ben
The cover does indeed finish off the look of the car when its on.
It can be a pain though if it starts raining and you want to put the hood up quickly.
I tend to put mine on if doesnt look like rain
