Oh yes! Ours is called Katey! When we bought her, a friend of ours with a very pronounced stammer asked me: “Maz - w-why have y-you b-bought a sk-k-k-KATEboard??!” From henceforth, she was known as K-k-katey and our current one is (naturally!) Katey II
Yes, mine has 2 names.
The first is… ‘… the MX5…’
and the 2nd name is ‘it’.
Given by my neighbour, as in…
“Have you finished working on it yet ?”.
Jokingly referred to “The Mistress” within the household, least thats what SWMBO is telling me
Mine is called Gertrude as my super gay, larger than life, boss said “if youre buying a convertible why don’t you buy something mega lesbian like an MX5 or similar” after showing him the pic of the car he started calling me Gertrude and hasn’t stopped since… I pretend he is talking about my car instead 
My mk1 was named gary coleman by my matecos it’s small black and outs a smile on your face, my other halve’s mk1 is called daisy as it’s got daisy wheels on it
Mine is called Bluebell and she is definitely female.
My NA is called Mixxy ( A friend of mine started that one off by asking if I was bringing “the mixxy” out and it sort of stuck with that one) and the NB doesn’t really have a name just referred to as "The MK2

The car came with the name off the previous owner, I didn’t like it at first, but now it’s starting to grow on me.
My Grandmother has always named her cars after flowers, bluebell, daffodil, poppy etc.

Mine is called Bluebell and she is definitely female, just look at her rear end curves. More commonly just referred to as the ‘5’ even though she is an Eunos.
My wife has taken to calling our MX 5 “Imelda Marcos” because I just recently forked out for a complete set of new Bridgestones which she likes to refer to as the car’s new shoes.

I have not named my NC3 and have had it 12 months now but have just put a deposit on a MK1 and my wife has named it Popeye already.

Potentially construed as rude I’m well aware, but phonetically near ‘The GZA’ of Wu-Tang fame, owing to its roughneck vibe and overt gangster styles.
Also a bit of a reverse engineered narrative because I realised my registration basically said ‘J1zz’ and I needed to take control of the situation before all of my mates started taking the mickey.
