Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone had made a grill for the MX5 Mk1? I have the material, I just need a template - and google in proving to not be as useful as I had hoped…
Many thanks in advance

An old link, and only the zipped file link works still, and you need to find some CAD software to open the file:
In the old days, before anyone had a printer at home, a dog eared template done on some old wallpaper did the rounds via the old MX5 mailing list. As for material; don’t bother with gutter guard. Although easy to cut, it will always look like you’ve used gutter guard.
In my opinion, the best grills are the ones you can’t see. On an old car, I went to a local metal working shop, and they had some really heavy duty stuff, and they cut a bit off for me for free. I just cut an appropriate sized rectangle, painted it black, and ziptied it to the plastic uprights in the mouth. You couldn’t see it at all, which is what I wanted.
Thanks for the link… I found this one, but couldn’t get it to print to scale… or be able to read it…
Wondering if there are any paper versions around ?

You could just find someone who has a grill and take it out and use that as a template. It is only held in by 2 bolts. I think my mate Muppet round the corner might even have a spare grill. Are you far away from Southampton?
I have a cardboard template taken from the CAD drawing.
Happy to put it in the post if you pm me your address

I’ve just downloaded the original Zipped file and converted it to a PDF at its original size, easy if you have the right software.
If you let me have your email address (by private message if you prefer) then I’ll send you the PDFs, one is a single page actual size, the other is a 3page A4 with actual size sections to print from.
Thank you all for you help :) :) :)
