Does my NC have the "appearance package"

Would like to know before I order an after-market rear box as I understand if you attempt to install a "standard" aftermarket exhaust on these cars, you risk damaging the bumper due to the heat from the exhaust.

Cheers,

Paul

yes that’s the appearance package skirt

Great - thanks for confirming.

Does anyone know how the OEM back box copes with the appearance package rear bumper? Are there two versions, one with longer tail pipes?

Standard box will melt the bumper unless you fit the Mazda Tailpipe Kit

My Cobra Race box never melted mine

I was under the impression that the appearance package rear skirt was the diffuser looking one which fixes over the top of the standard smooth skirt. Because of that the longer tailpipes are required

That would be for the facelift rear bumper, the original Mk3 has an optional full width rear skirt.

Thanks  - sorry everyone but I’m still confused, especially as Clive from Racing Beat Europe has just replied with the following photo and text:

If you would like to look at the picture attached you will see that the aftermarket Appearance bumper, which is the black part in the middle, you will see it sticks out away from the bumper. It would seem that your one is flush with the bumper. If you look at a slight angle you will see what we mean.

This means you need the normal Racing Beat Silencer ( the price is the same).

It looks like my car is fitted with one of these Mazda “air dam” skirts:

… which looks like it needs a “standard” exhaust, not an “appearance package” exhaust?

You don’t have an NC1 with appearance pack, so not relevant

That’s the same as mine, you need the longer tailpipes

Thanks.  Looks like I ordered the correct Racing Beat exhaust (with the extended tips) after all this afternoon

Sorry I was just saying mine dose not melt the appearance package defuser  on my NC3 as the OP only put NC,

I was just trying to help,

Just to clear a bit of confusion NC2 and NC3 exhausts have longer tailpipes standard

You don’t have an appearance pack diffuser, not in those pics anyway.

Cheers for clearing that up, so the OP has done the right thing and ordered the the longer pipes and I thought the appearance pack was on mine as it is one of the last NC3 cars I am sure it called it this in the sales brochure but I do know the 25th AE has a sport diffuser that protrudes the same as mine and has the fins on.

Yep the 25th Anniversary model has the extra diffuser trim piece, your rear bumper is stock Laughing
