Door Striker loose

  1. My model of MX-5 is:1999 NB
  2. I’m based near: Cambridgeshire
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on:
I have made an error while trying to get my door flush to the car as it was sticking out a fair amount, I was adjusting the door striker and can’t bolt it back after removing because what was on the other side of the bolts has fell into the car body, anyone know how to fix this ?

Magnet on a flexible shaft?

thanks, a magnet may work, I assume is there no way into the panel of the car?

Thinking about it actually. If you take off fthe B post trim there is good access behind where the door switch is.

The nut should be a captive nut that is tack welded into place, and should of not really have fallen off, once you retrieve it I would recommend adding a bit of silkaflex etc or metal putty to the nut face that will bond to the body work while re-screwing the bolt in tight, while holding the nut in the panel with a socket, extension and ratchet , I advise bond’o simply because not everyone as a welder handy to re tack weld back in place and possibly need a bit of paint correction afterwards, plus bond’o and metal putty are both easier to get your hands on quickly.
