Double din/ micro sd question

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __
  2. I’m based near: __
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Micro sd card

I have an ipod which I currently use in my car.
I recently paid for some albums off iTunes tried to import them to the pod and for some reason they’re not syncing anymore…I think it’s something to do with the iTunes software etc as I tried to do the sync on my brothers laptop (windows 11) still no joy.

So, to my question if I bought a new head unit with an sd card slot can I only use a 64gb card as I’d like to export everything from iTunes to a larger card and not bother with the ipod. Or do I have other options?
TIA

Do you also own an iPhone?

I had same issues a while back.

I went the route of itunes to memory stick.
Head unit in my vauxhall would on recognise a dozen or so of the hundreds of tracks on stick.

Tried plugging into a pioneer head unit, just the same, recognised a few of the many folders.

My solution was to convert to mp3, hey presto problem solved.

No I use an Android

I’ll have to look into mp3s trouble is my ipod has over 11,000 tracks on it.
My boot would be full of CDs!

The mp3 were put on a memory stick mate, head unit had usb input , no cd needed.

Doh! Yeah you did mention that

If you can connect your Android phone to your existing head unit, the info in the link below will talk you through accessing your iTunes library via Android.

How to transfer music from iTunes to Android Android Authority

If you were thinking of (or need) an alternative HU, you might want to consider one with Android Auto functionality built in.

Thank you, I currently have the standard HU in the car, I was thinking it would be easier to change the HU put my music on an sd card.
I looked at getting itunes on my android but read something that said it was £10.99 a month subscription…I could be wrong

It’ll be easier putting them on a USB drive (similar to below) as not all HU accept SD drives, well mine doesn’t.

Most aftermarket HU have a USB fly lead coming out of the rear, I extended mine to exit into the centre console to plug the phone into or a USB drive too. Some have managed to adapt the 12v socket under the heater dials to USB directly connected to the HU.
I think the above is one I’ll investigate doing too. But for now…

Thank you Mick, still not sure if a 512gb micro sd card would work in the usb stick as in would the volume of music work on the card upload/ visible on the HU

I’d have thought (if you have a PC) transfer the contents (tunes) from your micro SD card to a USB drive, the one I’ve linked to.
Once done and connected to an aftermarket head unit (via the USB fly lead) it displays the contents of the USB drive on the head unit screen and the ability to skip or shuffle play there too. All works with the correct kit with the steering wheel controls too.

Really appreciate your help Mick
