Drive around the New Forest

ope this is an OK place to post this but we did an epic grand tour of the New Forest yesterday.

Starting from Romsey head for Ower up the dual carriageway for a refreshing blast then take the A36 up towards Salisbury. Tirn left for Landford past the Lamb Inn (superb food) following Forest Drive then following the signs to Ringwood (avoiding the A31).

From Ringwood you have a choice, either back up the A31 for a blast to the services then turn off towards Burley or take the cross country route direct to Burley. We stopped for lunch at the Cider shop and cafe for a superb sausage sandsick, slice of cake and pot of tea. Head then to Brockenhurst, then Beaulieu. From there head back to the Totton Bypass but turn off to pay a visit to Eling Tide Mill heading back from there to home. We took all day and clocked up just over 60 miles in total. A good mix of country lanes, open Forest roads and fast dual carriageway.

New Forest Drive

I’ll put up a map when Photobucket decides to talk to me!

What a lovely day to decide to go for a New Forest Drive! Glad you missed the heavy traffic.  We know the area well as we live 5 miles from Romsey and on the edge of the New Forest so our Drives with Wessex often go into the NF area.

In fact we have a Mid Week Drive  in the New Forest this Wednesday ending at a pub in MIlford on Sea…  We have 30 members booked in so far.

Then, next month we have a NF drive to a pub in the Forest in Tiptoe.

We are so lucky to have such a choice of roads and fabulous scenery.

Absolutely. I did get tangled up with some cycling rally between No-Mans Land and Linwood and, of course, there were the usual Sunday dawdlers but hey, who cares, of a lovely day like yesterday. Cool

I know Tiptoe well. Shame I’m away from home this week as I would be tempted to join you. I have a mate who lives in Milford so it would have been an excuse to meet him as well.

What a great part of the world we live inLaughing
