The DVLA have a new service available for free. They will send you a reminder that your MOT is due about one month before it is due. I have find it useful as I accidentally forgot the date of my MOT and was driving around for two weeks without an up to date MOT.
I’ve used this service on both my cars and it works well. As you say a reminder e mail is sent one month before the MOT expiry date. Worth doing in my opinion.
Its not that “new” actually, been out a while now. I use it for my 5, wife’s audi, sons Punto evo and mother in laws Puegeot 206. It helps to keep some track of things! When you get the reminder, that’s virtually the date you can submit for a test (13 month MOT scenario) I do find it useful
Yes, I too signed up for our fleet some months ago now. Not sure how I found out about it, may even have been highlighted by the DVLA?
Shouldn’t really be needed as have a daily diary but history has shown me that it is very possible to forget or lose track of things with the MOT, particularly if you have several to think about.
The emailed reminder can only be a good thing and as said above get in for the 13 month MOT.
I too signed up for all our fleet. What is unclear is what happens if you cancel a notification for a vehicle you dispose of. Does it cancel all notifications to that e-mail address, or just for that vehicle. I haven’t risked clicking the cancel button just in case.
I have an “app” on my phone called “Vehicle Smart”. As well as the MOT it reminds me of upcoming vehicle tax and it can also be set to remind me of insurance renewal time.
It provides MOT history of 10 years and mileage data. I use it to check out any vehicle I’m interested in.
