East Sussex - Hawkinge Battle of Britain Museum - 5th August 2018

Simon and Linda Chorlton are arranging this day out.  Join us on a visit to Hawkinge Battle of Britain Museum

We will be meeting at 9am at Beryl’s Café Beryl’s Cafe, East Guldeford,  Rye TN31 7PA for breakfast and/or tea or coffee and use of the facilities before leaving for Hawkinge at approximately 10.15 am.   The full address of the museum is Aerodrome Rd, Hawkinge, Folkestone CT18 7AG at approximately 11.15am

Entry costs £8.00 per person – CASH ONLY is accepted.  There is plenty of free parking.  Toilet facilities and café are also available on site.  Also you may wish to bring a picnic as the cafe can get very crowded and there is a limited menu.

There are no cameras or mobiles allowed on site.  These are to be let at reception or in the car.

A group photo can be taken by the three hurricanes.

The visit takes approximately two hours to get around the museum.  This is the world’s largest Battle of Britain collection – get up close to the iconic Spitfire, Hurricane, BF109E, Battle of Britain fighter planes.

Learn about the brave airmen and the planes they flew in.  There are personal tributes making this a very moving experience.

Take note of the men and women who fought for their country.

Leave Hawkinge for a 15 min drive (approx.) for the Capel le Ferne Battle of Britain Memorial, New Dover Rd, Capel-le-Ferne, Folkestone CT18 7JJ

You may be able to find some of the people you know about on the wall.

See the pilot looking out to sea plus Spitfire and Hurricane replicas

There is a shop, toilet facilities and café on site.  Memorial is free but £1.00 per hour parking.

You may have to order food in advance (snacks, sandwiches etc).  Let us know in advance if you would like to order anything or as mentioned before why not bring a picnic.

There is a charge of £6.00 for the Scramble Experience.  This is optional but well worth it.
