This weekend at Blyton Mazda menders were fitting Yellow and rated them as a good option for Road and occasional track days
At least someone has seen the light
Got our moneys worth . These were green stuff ! The 20 minute sessions at blyton took there toll in the experienced class when giving it full beans.
I must say they didn’t fade right up until they wore out. We had spares . The rusty set were left out in the rain, not thinking they would be photo’d.

Well he would do .
he watched me fitting my set with some loverly copper grease and a lump hamer whilst ripping off sections of rusty heat shield !!
Then I bled some slightly orange fluid out of them with Mazda mender Jnr working the foot peddle.
Rodders pads are good but not accessable to everyone, Handy if your in sheffield though !
Most of the Max5 driver use them…But not all
Nedski, Been there and done that at Rockingham. had to fit some oem ones from the local Mazda Garage who delivered them at cost price as they where supporting the day !

Eh? Yeah they are - he’ll post them… I got some posted to me down South…
I don’t get this “occasional Track Day” stuff. They either work on track or they don’t. What you don’t want is fade or poor performance, wear is just part of it. The frequency of track days has nothing to do with if they work on track or not.
If they cost 50p but you have to replace them every time you track, or they cost £100 and you can use them all year, it is about effective braking, not how long they last. You have to do your own maths to see what works out the best.
call me a cheapskate but I agree with you, for the price i am willing to put up with washing the wheels when I get home and getting 3 sets instead of 1 is allways a winner
When you brake, all the energy goes into the brakes and something has to give. Pads that don’t dust put the wear into the disc and those that do dust are wearing the pad. Ultimax wear the pad, it creates dust which is fine if you have wheel trims, but on the plus side they are very cheap. You could have 3 sets for the price of Green Stuff and 4 sets for Yellow.
Pads that will wear the discs more will last longer and dust less, but you will end up replacing the discs more frequently. Also they tend not to have great initial bite as they like to be warm.
However with a set of decent EBC discs at £40 and a fitting time of about 10 minutes per side you are not talking telephone numbers whichever way you go. A set of MK1 Green Stuff and EBC discs should cost you about £82.

So that’s what the middle pedal does… Either that or someone left the hand brake on…
