Hi there, when googeling for 5-goodies i came accros various EGR-valve delete kits and i was asking myself …is it worth it? As far as my knowledge goes i believe that a delete valve blocks the exhaust gasses (instead of re-sending them trough the engine). Is that a right interpretation? In my case it would be for a 1990 NA 1.6 and a 2011 NC 2.0. Would the engine benefit from such a mod? would you feel any difference? Is the instalation easy? (bearing in mind i have two left hands…).
Probably not worth it based on a brief skim of this:
It’s likely to throw up a “check engine” light on your dash, at least on the newer car.
I’d like to perfirm the mod on my NB but not sure how to overcome the CEL without a stand alone ECU.
Cheers,
Guy
Thx
, refering to that miata.net discussion i would say no for both cars, it’s based on their expieriences (US/Canada) are these emissions the same than ours and …would that matter?(guess UK and Belgium have the same emissions)
For the NC it’s deffinitly no as i don’t want a “chek engine” lighing up.
It would be illegal and possibly an MoT failure. EGR has its downsides (introducing more crud to the intake) but the car is designed for it.
Cons out way the benefits, if you are lucky you may gain 1bhp.
The big downside is more NOx out the exhaust
