Eibach 30mm or 40mm springs?

Hi all, does anyone have any pictures of their Mk3 lowered on either the 30mm or 40mm Eibach springs?

I can’t decide weather to get these https://www.mx5parts.co.uk/eibach-45mm-sports-spring-mk3-p-1249.html or these https://www.mx5parts.co.uk/eibach-30mm-sports-springs-mk3-p-943.html

Pictures and advice would be most welcome!

A friend of mine put 40s on her car and found it too low and hard for daily use. It wouldnt  go over the speed humps in her office car park.

It looked great but drove a lot better with the 30s she immediately replaced them with.

obviously everyone is different but the 30s seem the more popular choice if you actually want to keep your spine where it started.

Unless you are going to use your car mainly on the track I would go for the 30mm Eibachs. They will hardly make any difference to the ride (especially if your car is fitted with the Bilstein shocks) and will greatly improve it’s looks and handling. I had my ND fitted with the Eibach 25mm/30mm lower springs and they were great without seriously compromising the ground clearance.

Seems like the 30mm springs are the way to go then. Does anyone have any pictures lowered on these but on 16 inch wheel? All the images I can find are on 17s…

My ND is 30mm lowered on 16”, any use?

Fairly recent one.

This was mine before I went to town on it  16’s with -30mm Eibach springs on standard (non bilstein).

Same drp with 17’s

Theres still quite some arch gap isnt there. Or did it settle down after this was taken?

17" wheels but mine is 40mm with Bilsteins. Never had any problems.

Hi, I have -30’s on my NC1, and the only time I have an issue is when me & the Mrs go away for the weekend and we both have a weekend bag in the boot  & a full tank of fuel. (see photo)

I don’t think -40’s would work for me.?

I think 30mm is enough, lower and it would become a little worrying trying to negotiate those severe speed humps.

Mine with 30mm lowering springs on the Bilsteins, I later had Meister’s fitted which set at the same level, perfect

Yeah that looks perfect.

The springs were on when the 16’s were fittedO, so no. Depends what you want, you asked for pics of cars with the springs fitted, I’ve given you two wheel sizes as well. TBH, the rolling radius of each wheel size is almost identical as the bigger wheel has a lower profile tyre? Speed humps/bumps/ramps etc were not an issue, never went lower so can’t comment on that aspect with a bigger spring drop.

I appreciate your help mate, just really keen to pick the  right springs for me first time. I’m 90% sure the  30mm ones are the ones to get. I just don’t want to fit them and wish I’d have gone that little bit more. The fact I’m on 16s I think will highlight any arch gap more than the 17s would (despite the size comparison).

Heres a couple of mine (albeit a hard top on 17’s) but you can get the idea. These were the 30mm

The best option maybe to go meister and then you can choose your own height as I have done in the MK3.5 I have (green one)

Heres the Meisters on 17" wheels

Here’s a before and after shot of my previous 5. Lowered on 45mm Eibachs with 16" wheels.

A little on speed humps, more so with two in the car. Comfort wasn’t an issue, but you tend to drive waiting for the noise as it bottoms out. I have 30mm on my current 5 and they are much better, I’ve only bottomed out once and that was at speed on an uneven road as I hit a horrible dip.

I would go for the 30mm if I was doing it again.

Advice taken and noted. For someone who has had both that hits home.
